In the app: Health → Account → “Your data, your call”. You can delete the data and keep the account, or delete the account entirely. It asks you to tick that you understand and to type DELETE, because it cannot be undone.
Your Google Drive folder is a separate choice on that same screen: keep it, or have OwnPlate move it to your Drive trash. Photos and backups there are yours either way.
If you would rather someone did it for you, email support@ownplate.ai from your account address with “delete” in the subject.
Health → Account has both: “Download everything” gives you one file with your meals, measurements, plans and settings, and “Back up to Drive” writes the same export into your own Drive folder.
The server keeps what coaching requires — your meals, targets, measurements and plan. It stores no meal photos: images are compressed in memory, stripped of EXIF and GPS, and written to your own Google Drive.
Google access is drive.file scope only: OwnPlate can touch one folder it creates and nothing else in your Drive. It never asks for Google Photos. Connecting Drive is optional — without it you keep the coaching and the numbers, and you lose the photo archive, the thumbnails and the backups.
Whatever the assistant learns about you is yours to read and correct, in plain language, under Health → Account.
There is no payment field at signup and none during your free weeks — you cannot pay during the trial even if you want to. After that you decide whether to subscribe.
A month you don't use is a month you aren't charged for. If you have not opened the app for 30 days the subscription pauses itself, and a day later the month you paid for is refunded, less the payment processor's fees. It resumes the moment you come back.
After three months paused we write once to ask whether you would like us to delete the app and your account rather than sit unused on your phone. You can also cancel any time from your account.
Photo analysis estimates ingredients and portions, and you confirm them before anything is logged — amount, unit and weight are all editable, and the numbers follow what you change. When you scan a product's Nutrition Facts label, those label-exact values replace the estimate for that item. Forty micronutrients are reported against FDA Daily Values.
Plan targets — calories, protein, fat, carbs — are computed by the app, not improvised by the model, and safety floors are applied and explained rather than quietly changed.
No. OwnPlate is not a medical device and does not diagnose, treat or prevent any condition. Nutrition and activity targets are estimates for general wellness.
Talk to a qualified professional before making significant changes to how you eat or train — particularly if you are pregnant, managing a health condition, or under 18.
Sign out fully and sign in again with Google — that also refreshes Drive access, which expires if it is left unused. If it still fails, email support with the account address and roughly when it happened, and the sign-in logs can be checked from this side.
