Privacy policy

Who "we" is

OwnPlate is a product of Affectionate Alien Intelligence Inc., a California corporation, which is the controller of the data described here. Write to support@ownplate.ai about any of it.

What we hold about you

• Account: the email and name from whichever account you sign in with, Google or Apple, and your sign-in. Apple lets you hide your address behind a relay, and a relay address is all we then have.
• Profile: what you tell us: name to be called, date of birth, sex, height, units, city, goals, health focus.
• What you eat: meals, portions, the nutrition estimated for them, water, fasting windows, and a small thumbnail of each meal photo.
• Measurements and activity: weight, body fat and similar readings you enter or import; steps, workouts and energy from Apple Health or Health Connect if you connect them (read only; OwnPlate never writes to them).
• Conversations: what you and the coach say to each other, so it can remember. Voice is transcribed to text; the audio itself is not kept unless you have explicitly consented to test-recording (alpha testers only), in which case clips are kept only when something went wrong, for fixing it.
• Community: your city at city level and your member number if you choose to appear on the map; a raised hand's case in the words the person wrote.
• Payments: Stripe's record of your subscription. We never hold card numbers.
• Notifications: if you allow them, the address your phone gives us for notifications.
• Use of the app: which screens are used and when, for fixing and improving OwnPlate. No advertising trackers.

Who processes it for us

Only to provide the service, under their own privacy terms:

• Anthropic (Claude): meal photos and descriptions, your conversation and the profile facts the coach needs, to analyse food and to coach.
• OpenAI: your voice, to turn it into text and the coach's replies into speech.
• Google: sign-in; and if you connect Google Drive, your meal photos and backups are stored in your own Drive, in a folder only OwnPlate created.
• Apple and Google: delivering notifications to your phone; Apple Health and Health Connect run on your phone and share only what you allow.
• Stripe: payments. Resend: the emails we send you. Railway: the servers and database, in the United States.

We do not sell your data, share it with advertisers, or give it to anyone else, except if the law requires.

How long, and how to leave

• We keep your data while you are a member so the coach has your history.
• Take it with you: the Account page backs up everything to your own Google Drive.
• Erase it: email support@ownplate.ai from your account's address and we delete your account and everything in it within 30 days, and confirm when it is done. Backups in your own Drive are yours to keep or delete.

Your choices

• Voice, photos, Drive, Health data, notifications and the map are each optional and each turned on by you; the app works without them.
• You can change or remove your city, and stop Health sync, from the app.

Children

OwnPlate is for adults. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that matters, we say so in the app before it takes effect. Questions: support@ownplate.ai.
